Luis Gomez

My SPH inspiring journey began back in May 2013 as a Student Worker under the incredible mentorship of Dr. Joseph Sharkey and his excellent South Texas team. Since then, I have had the privilege to serve in different roles to promote interdisciplinary scholarship to create more resilient South Texas communities through collaborative service opportunities. Currently, I serve as a Program Manager, and I could not be any more grateful to work with such an enabling group of team members under the superb mentorship of Dr. Garett Sansom. Looking back at 10 years of service at SPH, I am grateful for the many opportunities and the great mentors I have had throughout multiple research-funded grants. Dr. Sharkey enabled me to lead with humility and service and has been an inspiration for many of us, especially in our South Texas Communities. Similarly, Dr. Sansom has empowered and embraced our South Texas Communities in impactful and meaningful ways that have earned him the respect and appreciation of all of us, but most importantly, the communities we serve.
