The School of Public Health at Texas A&M University invites applications for three faculty positions in the Department of Health Policy & Management: a full-time open rank professor, and up to two assistant/associate rank professors. All three positions are tenure/tenure-track. Cluster hires are possible and salary will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidates will work with multidisciplinary academic teams to teach courses in health policy and management, health administration, and other areas of public health, provide mentoring for masters and doctoral students, and contribute to health policy scholarship. These 9-month, hard-money appointments would start August 1, 2022, although an earlier start date is possible.
Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent degree, with a focus in public health or a related field such as: public policy, administration, management, health services research, political science, economics, law, or medicine from an accredited school of public health or related educational institution. Successful candidates’ scholarship will focus on public health policy or management and will be aligned with at least one of the school’s seven centers:
The department has 12 tenured and tenure track faculty members, 5 non-tenure track faculty, and 2 staff members, and is home to more than 120 graduate students (https://public-health.tamu.edu/degrees/hpm/index.html). It offers a traditional MPH degree with a concentration in Health Policy & Management, and a PhD in Health Services Research. The department also houses a CAHMEaccredited MHA degree program that is well-ranked by U.S. News and World Report. The MHA program has a resident track for students in College Station and an executive track that is delivered at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Additionally, department faculty teach in the School’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health generalist degree program, which has more than 800 majors.
The Department of Health Policy & Management has a commitment to scholarly inquiry in a broad spectrum of areas. Research, scholarship and creative activities in the department represent a wide array of disciplines, expertise, and interests. Department members come from backgrounds in public health, political science, nursing, urban planning, law, management, medicine, economics, and data science. Collectively, they have conducted numerous policy or management-related projects that include assessments of local health care infrastructures, the quality of health care services, critical access hospitals, long-term care policies, Medicaid, managed care, chronic disease burden, and court mandated access.
