The CEPH-accredited School of Public Health at Texas A&M University invites applications for a fulltime, residential instructional assistant professor for the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing department with a commitment to scholarly inquiry in a broad spectrum of areas. The successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary and academic teams to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in health promotion and community health sciences and other areas of public health, provide academic advising and mentoring for Master of Public Health students, and contribute to public health pedagogy through scholarship. The teaching load is seven courses per year; percent effort is 90% teaching and 10% service and scholarly activities. This 9-month appointment would start August 1, 2022, although an earlier start date is possible.

Minimum requirements: Doctoral degree in social and behavioral health, public health, or related field Preferred qualifications:

  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students
  • Experience developing and teaching courses online

About the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences

The department has five tenured and tenure track faculty members, six non-tenure earning faculty and staff members, and is home to over 60 graduate students. It offers a traditional Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in health promotion and community health sciences as well as a health promotion and community health sciences concentration in the schoolwide Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Public Health Sciences. Additionally, Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences faculty teach in the School’s undergraduate generalist degree program, which has nearly 800 students.
