Allied Health or Community Health

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS


Students applying to an undergraduate program must follow all department admissions requirements. If you are a high school or transfer student interested in more information about our programs, please call 979.436.9463

Freshman Admissions


Freshman admissions, for students with no previous college credit, must apply through Texas A&M’s Office of Admissions. Admission to these programs will be limited.

Readmits


Readmissions must follow all Texas A&M readmission requirements. Readmission is not guaranteed. Students should consult with Dr. Rhonda Rahn for more information.

TRANSFER ADMISSIONS


Admission to both the Allied Health and the Community Health degree programs is limited. In addition to Texas A&M admission requirements, transfer applicants must have:

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA (preference given to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher)
  • Completion of 24 transfer hours
  • Grades on transcript at time of review
  • Completion of four required courses with a B average and a minimum grade of C including:
    • Two MATH courses that satisfy core curriculum with the exception of MATH 150 (refer to Texas A&M core curriculum for a list of courses)
    • Two of the following sciences: BIOL 1413 or BIOL 1406 (or equivalents), CHEM 1411, *BIOL 2401, *BIOL 2402
    • Recommended (but not required) courses: ENGL 1302, SPCH 1315, PHED 1304

*BIOL 2401 and BIOL 2402 are not direct equivalents for BIOL 319 and 320 but can substitute for this degree. Students must take either BIOL 2401 and 2402 at a community college or take BIOL 319 or 320 at Texas A&M. BIOL 2401 will not count as a prerequisite for BIOL 320.

CHANGE OF MAJOR


CHANGE OF MAJOR ADMISSIONS DEADLINES

Summer 2023: Dec. 20, 2022-Feb. 13, 2023

Fall 2023: May 16, 2023-June 27, 2023

Prospective change of major students must submit a change of major application and meet the requirements below. Students will be notified no later than 10 business days after the application deadline.

To complete the change of major process, accepted applicants must attend the mandatory Change of Major processing meeting. Details about this meeting are in the email students will receive if accepted.

Students now submit their change of curriculum requests online through Howdy.

LIMITED ADMISSIONS

  • BS in Health – Allied Health
  • BS in Community Health

CHANGE OF MAJOR ADVISING

The advising office will have change of major in-person the first Friday of every month (unless otherwise noted) from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Jan. 6, 2023
  • Feb. 3, 2023
  • March 3, 2023
  • April 7, 2023
  • May 5, 2023

Please check in at the front desk in Suite 147 in the Reynolds Medical Sciences Building.

The following requirements must be met at the time of application.

  • Minimum Texas A&M GPA 2.75 
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 graded hours at Texas A&M
    (Students with fewer than 90 total hours - A&M and transfer hours - have preference)
  • Completion of four of the required courses with a 3.0 GPA for Allied Health and a 2.5 GPA for Community Health
    • Two MATH courses that satisfy core curriculum with the exception of MATH 150 (refer to Texas A&M core curriculum for a list of courses)
    • Two of the following sciences: BIOL 107 (or equivalent), CHEM 119 (or equivalent), *BIOL 319 (BIOL 2401) or BIOL 320 (BIOL 2402)

*BIOL 2401 and BIOL 2402 are not direct equivalents for BIOL 319 and 320 but can substitute for this degree. Students must take either BIOL 2401 and 2402 at a community college or take BIOL 319 or 320 at A&M. BIOL 2401 is not a prerequisite for BIOL 320.
