Why did you choose Texas A&M Public Health?

As a first-generation college student, I was not sure about my path, but I knew I had a passion for helping others. Throughout my time in graduate school, my classes exposed me to research in the health care administration field and the importance of having well-tailored leaders to run health institutions.

My job at the A.P. Beutel Heath Center on the Texas A&M campus allowed me to explore the world of health care administration. I assisted in researching how the "Triple Aim" program could be applied in higher education settings to ensure all students have equitable access to health care resources.

I was also able to apply the skills I gained from my job and my health care administration classes during my practicum at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas.  I served as an administrative intern where I designed, planned, and implemented two pediatric toy cars that would transport children from the pre-surgical area to their operating rooms. I also worked closely with the surgical department to train our clinical staff on safety and operation of the vehicles.
