Jack Buckley, Jr. is currently serving as an executive in residence at the School of Public Health. He has more than 35-years experience in health care leadership and has worked for a number of Catholic and not-for-profit hospitals and health systems. He has held leadership positions with St. Joseph Health System in Bryan, Texas; the Mercy Health System in Ohio; Catholic Healthcare West in Arizona; and St. Anthony's in Amarillo, Texas. From 1992 to 2001 he served as president/CEO of Southern Illinois Healthcare Enterprises, a multihospital system in southern Illinois.
In his last position as president and CEO of St. Joseph Health System, Buckley was responsible for day-to-day operations of St. Joseph Regional Health Center and supported a variety of St. Joseph corporations and more than a dozen St. Joseph facilities in east central Texas, including three critical access hospitals, two long-term care facilities and eight rural clinics.
Buckley received an MBA from George Washington University and has his undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served in various roles for the Catholic Health Association of the U.S., American Hospital Association, Texas Hospital Association, Illinois Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Associate of Texas.
Buckley is a recipient of the Bishop's Award for work on behalf of the Diocese of Phoenix as well as the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Award for work on behalf of the Diocese of Belleville in Illinois.
