Internal Research Awards

The School of Public Health offers annual awards for excellence in student research, as well as a bi-annual award for excellence in faculty research.

Student Research Awards

Award Eligibility
Student Research Poster Contest All public health undergraduate and graduate students
Student Award for Research Excellence All undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students eligible for commencement (held May, August or December)

Faculty Research Award

Award Eligibility
Faculty Award for Research Excellence Yearly early-career (less than 10 years from terminal degree) award, and alternating Associate/Full professor (10+ years from terminal degrees) awards.

External Public Health Awards

A number of public health organizations and professional societies offer research awards for faculty members, staff and students.

General Public Health Awards

Environmental & Occupational Health Awards

  • The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society offers awards for faculty and students conducting outstanding research, education, product design and other contributions to the field of ergonomics. Nominees are not required to be HFES members, but only members of HFES may submit nominations.
  • The Applied Ergonomics Conference includes annual faculty and student awards for Creativeness in Ergonomics
  • The National Academy of Inventors Fellowship highlights academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.
  • The Society of Toxicology offers awards, fellowships, grants and training programs to outstanding graduate students and faculty members.
