Elisa Beth McNeill, PhD, CHES® is currently an Instructional Professor in the Department ofHealth Behavior-School of Public Health at Texas A&M University [TAMU]. Dr. McNeill is a40-year teaching veteran having experience with middle school, high school, and at-risk pregnantand parenting adolescents. She earned her masters' degree and Principals Certificate inEducational Administration and her PhD in Health Education from TAMU. Beth is known forher innovative instruction, she teaches courses in human sexuality, elementary and secondaryschool health pedagogy, population health promotion, consumer health and community & schoolhealth methodology. Her courses are designed to promote application in authentic contexts andfrequently include service learning.
Beth has co-authored a textbook on health methodologies, Health Education: Creating Strategiesfor School and Community Health. Dr. McNeill designs curriculum and assessment materials fora variety of entities. She frequently presents at state, regional, national, and internationalconferences with multiple publications and book chapters.
Dr. McNeill contributes to the national professional community through engagements with theAmerican School Health Association, the Society for Public Health Education, and the AmericanCollege Health Association. She co-chaired the Consensus Project to write the National HealthEducation Standards (3rd edition): Model Guidance for Curriculum and Instruction. Locally sheserves as a Board member for the Brazos valley Prenatal Clinic and the Weekday School ofA&M Methodist Church.
Dr. McNeill is working on several research projects dedicated to promoting a variety of healthconcerns. She serves as project coordinator for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). This outreachproject strives to train lay persons to act as first responders in situations of mental healthcompromise. McNeill also serves as a consultant designing curriculum for the reduction ofopioid use and the promotion of healthy sexuality for youth.
