Biography
Krystal Flores, DrPH, MPH, is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at Texas A&M University School of Public Health in McAllen, Texas. A passionate educator, she focuses on teaching and mentoring many first-generation students in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). She earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees in Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences from Texas A&M University. She holds a Certificate in Effective College Instruction from the Association of College and University Educators and integrates service-learning into her courses to enhance experiential learning. Dr. Flores collaborates with local and state organizations to create hands-on opportunities that address real-world public health challenges, benefiting both students and the community. As a former Faculty Fellow with the SOURCE Service-Learning Academy at Johns Hopkins University and a current Faculty Fellow with the National Maternal and Child Health Workforce Development Center, she brings substantial experience to her role. At the Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen, Dr. Flores leads initiatives that build partnerships with community organizations, fostering students’ professional growth. Her work empowers students to engage deeply with public health issues and contribute meaningfully to underserved communities in the RGV.Education and Training
