Santos Navarrette is the director of the Brazos County Health Department. Prior to joining the Brazos County Health Department he served as the health services director for the City of Abilene beginning in 2014. He has also served as the associate director for environmental health and disease control for Tarrant County (2005-2012) and assistant health director for the City of Laredo Health Department (2003-2005). Navarrette was the AF career field manager (CFM), aerospace physiology (AP) and manager United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base and air education & training center functional manager for aerospace physiology, manager aerospace physiology training flight, and superintendent for the 12th Medical Group at Randolph Air Force Base.
He holds a certification in health information management (privacy and security) from Texas State University, a Master of Arts in human resource management from Wayland Baptist University, a Master of Business Administration with special emphasis on Health Care Administration from Wayland Baptist University and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Saint Leo College. He also has an Associate Degree in aerospace physiology technology from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
