Dr. Sharon K. Melville is the regional director for Health Service Region 7 of the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). This encompasses a 30-county area in Central Texas. Prior to becoming the regional director, Melville was manager of the TB/HIV/STD Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch at DSHS for 17 years. Before coming to DSHS, Melville was an assistant professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and a faculty member of the University of Massachusetts Preventive Medicine Residency Program.
Melville received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed a residency program in general preventive medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition, she holds a Master of Public Health Degree from The University of Massachusetts School of Public Health.
