Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP)

The Texas A&M University School of Public Health offers a Guaranteed Admission Program designed to streamline the application process for highly qualified candidates pursuing a Master's in Public Health. This selective pathway provides automatic admission to eligible applicants who demonstrate academic excellence. This program reflects our commitment to attracting exceptional students across various concentrations —all fields where graduates can make meaningful contributions to public health challenges facing communities worldwide.

Requirements:

Guaranteed Admission Program – MPH – Texas A&M University Applicants

  • Must have bachelor’s degree conferred prior to starting MPH
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • No grade less than a “B” in the following required coursework
    • MATH 140 (MATH 1324) and MATH 142 (MATH 1325) or higher
    • BIOL 111(BIOL 1306 and 1106, or 1406)
    • BIOL 112 (BIOL 1307 and 1107, or 1407)
    • CHEM 119 (CHEM 1311 and 1111, or 1411)
  • Two years’ work experience or minimum GRE score of 300 (verbal + quantitative) with a 3.8 Analytical Writing Score*

Guaranteed Admission Program – MPH – Texas A&M System Applicants

Requirements:

  • Must have bachelor’s degree conferred prior to starting MPH
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • No grade less than a “B” in the following required coursework

    • Biology 1306 and 1106 or Biology 1406
    • Biology 1307 and 1107 or Biology 1407
    • Chemistry 1311 and 1111 or Chemistry 1411
  • Two years’ work experience or minimum GRE score of 300 (verbal + quantitative) with a 3.8 Analytical Writing Score

Guaranteed Admissions Program – MPH – Non-System Texas Schools

Requirements:

  • Must have bachelor’s degree conferred prior to starting MPH
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • No grade less than a “B” in the following required coursework
    • MATH 1324 and 1325 or higher
    • Biology 1306 and 1106 or Biology 1406
    • Biology 1307 and 1107 or Biology 1407
    • Chemistry 1311 and 1111 or Chemistry 1411
  • Two years’ work experience or minimum GRE score of 300 (verbal + quantitative) with a 3.8 Analytical Writing Score*

Applicants who are seeking admission via the MPH Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) will apply via the normal application process for any MPH applicant. For instructions on how to apply, please visit the MPH programs – How to Apply.

When completing the SOPHAS application for admission, applicants should indicate via the TAMU SPH MPH Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) section of the application that they meet the MPH GAP criteria. The TAMU SPH Graduate Admissions team will verify completion of the required coursework with a grade of B (or higher) via the official transcripts provided.

  • Work Experience Requirement: Applicants will need to submit an employment verification letter from the applicant's Human Resources office indicating a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience. This document should include dates of employment and titles supporting the applicant's work experience requirement. The letter can be uploaded to application as an “other” document type or sent via email to the Texas A&M SPH Office of Student Services - Graduate Admissions at: SPH-Gradinfo@tamu.edu
  • GRE Test Score: For those using the GRE test score criteria in place of work experience, have ETS send scores to SOPHAS using GRE code 7841 (Texas A&M HSC Pub Hlth SOPHAS) 
If an applicant is found to not have met the TAMU SPH MPH Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) criteria, the application will be reviewed under the standard admission review process.
