New Graduate Student Onboarding

SPH New Graduate Student Onboarding Events

As part of the onboarding process, the SPH Graduate Student Services office hosts various events for incoming students. Students, please refer to the list below and in your offer letter for the mandatory/required events for you to attend. Email invitations with registration links will be sent closer to the event dates.

The School of Public Health is enrolling students at two educational sites this fall: College Station and online/distance education. Additional events may be scheduled for each unique cohort. 

Note: Not attending the required onboarding event(s) will result in the cancellation of your School of Public Health admission.

  

Fall 2023 Admitted Students

 


College Station Campus Programs

The SPH New Graduate Student Experience (SPH NGSE) is a mandatory event where all incoming graduate students will receive information, materials, and greetings from strategic school leadership, administration, and fellow students.

Attendance for this event is required for all incoming graduate students enrolling at SPH this fall. This includes the following programs:

  • Master of Public Health (including full/part-time College Station campus programs, 3+2 program, MPH/MIA program, and MD/MPH program students),
  • Master of Health Administration - Resident/College Station program
  • Master of Science in Health Education - Resident/College Station program
  • Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program
  • PhD in Health Education program
  • PhD in Health Services Research program

Date: Aug. 15, 2023
Time: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (CST)
Location: Gates Ballroom, Memorial Student Center, Texas A&M University Campus
Attire: Business Casual

Lunch will be provided.

Distance Education/Online Program

Attendance is required for students enrolling in the:

  • Master of Public Health - Epidemiology Online/Distance Education Program

Location: Zoom


This orientation will be online via Zoom. Log-in details will be emailed directly. Online program students are welcome to attend the in-person orientation.

Doctoral Program Students

In addition to attending the New Graduate Student Experience event on Aug. 15, doctoral students are required to attend this additional session to learn about doctoral program expectations. Attendance for this event is required for incoming graduate students enrolling in the following programs:

  • Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program
  • PhD in Health Education program
  • PhD in Health Services Research program

Attire: Business Casual

International Students

All incoming international graduate students are required to attend the SPH International Student Orientation. We organized this orientation session to help your transition to Bryan-College Station and Texas A&M University. 

Note: Not attending the required orientations will result in the cancellation of your School of Public Health admission.

Welcome Reception

Save the Date! A Welcome Reception for all Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 incoming graduate students will be held on Aug. 14! This event is optional to attend and open to all incoming graduate students to SPH.

Parking is not provided by the School. Use the Visitor Parking Map to find visitor parking locations.
