Why did you choose Texas A&M’s School of Public Health?

“I completed my bachelor's in nutritional sciences at Texas A&M, where I found my passion for public health. Because I had an amazing experience at A&M, I decided to stay and pursue my master’s.

What has your experience been like in the program?

“Being part of a small cohort made me feel comfortable building friendships. The CORE was also an exciting part of the program, allowing me to build interprofessional connections with other students in different public health concentrations.”

How do you feel this program has helped you prepare for a post-grad career?

“The program helped me learn about the many career paths I could choose with a public health degree.”

What do you think of the coursework?

“My favorite part about the coursework was the freedom to cater my degree plan to my interests and explore other areas in public health.”

How do you feel you have changed, personally or professionally since the beginning of the program?

"I am more confident in my abilities. While the application-based curriculum in the coursework helped build the foundation for my future career, the Texas A&M Career Center also helped a great deal in helping me gain this confidence and allowed me to network and further enhance my professional development skills."

What advice would you give someone looking into A&M’s School of Public Health?

“I urge you to be an advocate for yourself. I recommend you do more than recommended to get the best out of the program. Gaining experience from public health-related internships and job opportunities will help you narrow down what you want to do after graduation. Most importantly, do not hesitate to ask your peers for advice; they’re your best resource.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Right now, I am interning with a clinical research organization. I have a patient care background, so seeing companies like this also bring a public health perspective excites me! I plan to one day become a Clinical Project Manager or Clinical Research Associate to aid in drug development and ensure better health outcomes.”

What has been your favorite thing about the program?

My favorite thing about this program is learning from my peers, all with varying perspectives. It is essential to work around individuals that may have different viewpoints than you. It is a necessary part of professional development!
