Graduation and Commencement

On behalf of the School, congratulations on entering the final semester of your curriculum at SPH! To help you prepare for graduation, please review the information below for the required forms and deadlines.


Applying for Your Diploma

You must file an application for degree before you can graduate.  Students planning to graduate must submit the graduation application online in the Howdy portal. The application for fall 2019 graduation opens August 14 and closes on September 27, to avoid a late fee. In addition, Texas A&M provides a Graduation Checklist, in which upcoming graduates are strongly recommended to review and complete the necessary steps.

Commencement Ceremony

The Fall 2019 Texas A&M Commencement Ceremony for the School of Public Health master's and bachelor's degrees will be Friday, December 13, at 2 p.m. in Reed Arena.  The Doctoral Commencement and Hooding Ceremony for all School of Public Health doctoral students will be Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m. at Rudder Auditorium.  Parking information is available on the Transportation Services website. Ordering Regalia 

Students who need to order regalia can do so directly from the MSC Bookstore (located on the lower level). When ordering  graduate-level regalia, please see the list below for the hood color based on your degree. 

  • MHA- Kelly green  
  • MPH- Salmon (all concentrations)
  • MSPH- Gold
  • PhD- Dark blue
  • DrPH- Salmon

SPH Graduation Celebration


The SPH Graduation Celebration will be Friday, December 13, in the lobby of the School of Public Health Administration building from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Graduates, plan to bring your family, enjoy refreshments, meet with our faculty, and take photos with the SPH photo backdrop! Remarks will be held at 10:45 am.  


Graduation Survey

The School compiles data on employment plans of our graduates for CEPH accreditation requirements. Personal information will be kept confidential and is only used for statistical purposes. Individual student data will not be published or shared. The survey will be sent to students' TAMU and exchange email accounts directly.


 Additional Resources

Financial Aid- consider meeting with a Financial Aid  or Money Wise advisor to plan for loan repayment and deferment options (if applicable).

Job Search Assistance- Schedule an appointment with Ms. Jessica Newcomb with the School's Career Services Program!  She works with both current and former students to help guide you through the job search process.

Association of Former Students, Aggie Ring- connect with Aggies around the world by purchasing a class ring.  Review the website for eligibility requirements. Also update your information the Aggie Network portal to receive important information from the Association and your class agents.

SPH Alumni Association- join this network to receive information from SPH after you graduate!
